Sheriff's Office Chaplains will be among the first civilians in the nation
to receive specialized training in providing crisis intervention assistance
to citizens and first responders affected by a major disaster
Lessons learned from the 9-11 terrorists attacks will be taught in Orange County
Orange County Sheriff’s Office

Thought this new training might be of interest since these chaplains will be among the first civilians in the US to be certified in this new training developed specifically by the National Guard to prepare crisis responders to help the general public as well as first responders from law enforcement and fire departments.

In light of the terror created by the Washington Sniper, programs like this one will equip communities for the possibility of terrorist attacks, or other disasters, both natural and man-made.

Orlando is considered a likely target of terroism, and several members of Florida's Homeland Security Task Force will be present, as well as Critical Incident Stress Management directors in Florida. The National Guard hopes to train 5000 people in the United States in 2003 with this new certification. Orange County, Florida will be among the first communities in the nation to be this prepared for the possibility of terrorist attacks.
