GRUDER DISCRIMINATION?
Those of you who come regularly to the Culture Shock website know that I am one of the few liberals writing on a regular basis here. As one of those resident liberals, I frequently am the target of little barbs from our beloved Executive
Producer. That's OK, he's entitled to his opinion, too. Just because he is usually wrong, doesn't make him a bad person, does it?
On June 2, 2002, the subject of the case of Barbara Gruder came up. For those who do not know, Ms. Gruder is a college graduate who applied to the University of Michigan Law School and was rejected. Ms.
Gruder appears to have been fully qualified to enter the program she chose except for one thing. She was white. She sued the University, and the Court of Appeals has ruled against her. The case is now working its way toward the Supreme Court. Whether it actually gets to be heard depends upon whether the justices vote to review the case. They should.
