On Jan. 6, eight anti-abortion activists – lawyers, ministers and physicians — met with Jasen Eige, chief lobbyist for Gov. Bob McDonnell.

They pressed for the Republican's position on measures declaring that life — and the legal rights, thereof — begin at conception. Specifically, which of two versions of the so-called personhood bill does McDonnell support?

Rita Dunaway, Rutherford Institute, at that meeting and a letter to the Gov: I’m sure you can imagine my shock and disappointment when I learned from a news article in Sunday’s Richmond Times Dispatch that Governor McDonnell has “significant constitutional concerns” with House Bill 1.

"I was at the meeting with Jasen Eige and heard him promise to keep Rita Dunaway with the Rutherford Institute or Don Blake with Va Christian Alliance informed.

There was an understanding that if the Governor had any questions or concerns, Rita would be consulted. We waited for weeks to hear something and to our shock and dismay, read about his concern in a newspapaper article. The language in this bill has already stood the scrutinyof the US Supreme Court.

We want our pro life governor to do the right thing on HB1."

Politics? Is Governor McDonnell going the way of the GOP establishment? Is he Forgetting what got him into office in the first place?

The people of Virginia need to step in and step up to this prolife Governor do what is right.
